Time to move from 'chintan' to 'chaitna' for BJP

Four months ago, I exercised my right to vote for the second time, first being the Delhi assembly polls. The moment was special for me as it reminded me of countless volatile political debates witnessed at family gatherings, during smoky train journeys and in the company of experienced elders. I thought that the right would sort of make me qualified to have a say during such discussions of ‘learned’ and ‘politically aware’ people.

Currently, the political subject that has been consistently dominating in the family circle is the Djinn of Jinnah made alive by Jaswant, ‘the Allahdin’. “This’ll open a huge cane of worms for BJP,” declared an aunt, discussing the issue flamboyantly at an evening get-together. Even I made a statement to claim my political ‘genius’ over her.

‘C’ is the alphabet behind the present turmoil in BJP. And of course, the solution lies in the same alphabet. Guess what?

BJP could not stand Jaswant Singh’s chaishta (dare) of turning Jinnah’s ghost alive. Hence, the Chintan Baithak ended in chaos not before holding Jaswant a culprit.

This is sheer ‘C’-grading of politics, felt the ‘golden boy’ of BJP Atal Bihari Vajpayee and chided the party for suspending Jaswant. He must have got upset for making his Hanuman a Ravan, days before Dusshera.

It further triggered another mutiny within the party voiced by Arun Shourie, another ‘tall’ leader of the party with differences. Shourie took the media way to express his dissatisfaction in words galore…

I am afraid if the party’s ‘Tarzan’ is still to announce more expulsion orders!
The lesson for the ‘humpty dumpty’ party is to rise from its conservative cocoon before witnessing the final fall. Sheer chintan (introspection) is needless without chaitna (consciousness) among its workers. The party needs a bold surgery to stitch its wounds of defiance, ego-clashes and indiscipline to close another cacophonic chapter.

The side-effect:
Guess what! Even the complacent Congress is jealous because there is something matchless about BJP leaders for they use loads of metaphors at one time, hogging the entire limelight.

For now, Congress should find a solace in their bickering Opposition that has no time for criticism for the government. What a co-operative Opposition!

A Poem of Life

Present hangs in balance and makes
You peep into the worrisome future
With experience bitter or better
from the past but...
There is hope and despair that
Go hand in hand to believe
What life is about.

One step you come across happiness
And it follows a sea of sorrow.
Then there comes an uneasy calm
To unfold the surprises of tomorrow.

All alone you pass through thick and thin
Of life, embrace its all phases and colours
Sometimes you crib and other times you grin
Alike autumn, spring and summers…

The two hands walk together
One moving ahead of another
Yet can’t embrace each other
And seek love from some other

Just to undo what can’t be
Every moment you spend in repent
And just to be what you wanted to be
You try hard but could not relent

A grey in mind sometimes gives off
Weariness just to fulfil a suppressed desire
Just as a flame under a lamp can’t be put off

Despite it’s unending struggle or ire!
